Meet Bella! She is only 8 years old and has quite a story to tell:
Aside: Bella refused to come through our gate alone. She was convinced I was going to hurt her. I told her to bring her friend in with her to make her feel more safe. After much convincing, Bella finally agreed.
“ I was walking at night, and I stepped in a hole and lost my shoe. I could not find it no matter how hard I looked. I cried for days because those were the only shoes I had, and I wore them to school. Its okay now though, that was 2 years ago. I still don’t have a new pair of shoes, but I am not upset anymore. When I grow up, I want to be a journalist like you, because I want to help the street children like you do. I do not want to beg anymore.
Why are you asking me all of these questions? Are you going to help me? I would be very happy if you did. My parents tell me that they are sorry all the time, but they wouldn’t be sorry anymore if you helped us. You must be rich, I’ve seen you wear 3 different pairs of shoes here.”
Bella deserves better. Share her story, and follow the link below to donate:
