Marketing in the modern world has changed. Although sales are important for any business to survive, the key is customer engagement!

The toughest challenge for me is mastering the art of engaging an audience…knowing exactly what this meant was the first step.  Customer engagement is going to mean something different to every business and to every person. In a social medial driven world its about knowing that counting likes, shares and clicks is not the most critical thing…Its about really understanding and knowing that no one wants to feel like a number on a view counter or in a revenue goal and its not all about “pushing the sale”.  Personally theres nothing I hate more…nothing that will completely disengage me from the person than someone pushing a “for sale” sign in my face, day in and day out.

Modern marketing and customer engagement is about “being who you are” ….Its about developing those real relationships with people and with other businesses whether they are local or international. The key is simple yet at the same time extremely difficult….Its all about having personal conversations….Keeping your content away from the clinical and more at a human, engaging, personal level. Its about “talking” to people.

It is so critical to build connections that run deeper than “just sales”…we want our clients to develop an attachment to us and our services because what we do is our passion, because we are the best at what we do and because they know that our goal will always be to provide a positive, uplifting, “Wow” experience for them.

When going through a start up phase of any business developing relationships takes a lot of thought and effort. It can be challenging to form business partnerships as people “don’t have a vested interest” in you as of yet and are watching to see if what happens before forming that partnership. Small Business startups, relationship building and marketing a business as a solo person can be draining so a piece of advice to every small business owner is “find a mentor”. There are online mentorships and services available with Community Futures – Alberta and Business Link.

We will continue to remember that developing both business and client relationships are kind of like a marriage….If you take the time, put in a lot of real effort and be patient, it will be long-term and successful.

On a side note, although clients might think we are mainly a massage services company, we also focus a lot of our attention on running or participating in events, sponsoring athletes, writing programs for our clients who may not want a personal trainer, online personal training and periodically we will  “pop” into the gym and do some hands on stuff with a client. We will be running “free” bootcamps during the summer of 2018 and they will be for all ages and will be for fitness and fun.

I would love to have some feedback on what clients feel keeps them engaged when they come to a particular website? What would they like to see more of? What would they like to see less of?
