Deep Tissue Massage
Questions Frequently Asked about Deep Tissue Massage
How does Deep Tissue Massage differ from Relaxation Massage?
Both types of massage offer benefits and both are very effective. Typically a Relaxation or Swedish massage uses strokes that are more gentle in nature. The massage therapist may move at a slower pace and use lighter pressure. Deep Tissue massage tends to provide deeper pressure on the tissues with a focus on shifting the underlying structures of the body that may cause pain and restrictions. Deep tissue massage or sports massage uses deeper pressure and cross-fiber friction in order to release tissue that is adhered or in spasm, which is certainly therapeutic.
Will I be in pain after a deep tissue massage?
You shouldn’t experience pain or soreness because our therapists will always communicate with you during the massage to ensure pressure is good and to ensure that you are not experiencing pain during the massage. Some people however, may experience stiffness or soreness the following day.
What type of massage is best for me?
A deep tissue massage can help to manage sore muscles or injury; however, to determine what is best for your massage therapist will go over your intake form and communicate with you directly to formulate a plan for what type of massage would be appropriate given your needs. Each massage is completely customized to the client’s needs.
