 Graston Technique with Massage

Graston Technique is a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue manipulation. By using specially designed instruments, your therapist is able to identify, assess, and treat your condition, resulting in improved treatment outcomes.

Although very effective on its own, when combined with appropriate therapeutic massage, many patients will feel a decrease in pain and experience an increase in range of motion immediately. Over the next 72 hours, the condition will continue to improve.

What is a Graston Treatment?

A Graston treatment is only a few minutes in duration and often combined with either a massage therapy or chiropractic appointment. One of our highly trained clinicians will gently slide a specialised Graston instrument along your skin to locate any adhesions, scar tissue or areas of fibrosis. You and your clinician will likely feel an area of grittiness or bumps under the skin, almost as if the instrument is being slid over gravel.

After locating the congested/ fibrotic tissue, the Graston instrument is used to gently separate the fibres and break up the local adhesion.

Some mild discomfort may be felt and occasionally and depending on the person,  some bruising may develop after the treatment but typically we have not experienced this. At no time during the treatment should you be in unmanageable pain.

Your therapist will check with you to ensure you are not uncomfortable but if you have any concerns during your treatment, please address these with your therapist immediately.
