Description of Massage Treatments

Therapeutic Massage – What exactly is it?

Therapeutic MassageAt Custom Bodies Fitness and Massage, Therapeutic Massage is one of the massage styles that we specialize in and most people think it’s the same as deep tissue massage.

Therapeutic Massage vs Deep Tissue

If you think about it, all massage is therapeutic so we believe that the term, Therapeutic massage simply describes any type of massage treatment that will help to reduce pain, reduce stress and work on a specific problem.  Therapeutic massage does not always mean there will be deep tissue work.

A good therapist will apply the specific techniques and the right amount of pressure to address your need, and sometimes that’s a lighter touch.

A therapeutic massage means that the client will present to the therapist with a specific complaint, for instance, pain in your hip, tight shoulders, or a spasm in your lower back (or even all three). Your therapist will customize your therapeutic massage based on what your specific needs are at the time of treatment.

All of this and Epsom salts to take home.
Why Epsom Salts? Drinking water will help flush these toxins out, but you still may feel achy and sore for 24-48 hours after your massage. Epsom salts taken as a bath promotes perspiration and draws acidic wastes – mainly uric acid – through the pores of the skin. This all helps to relieve pain. This bath also sedates the nervous system, reduces swelling, relaxes muscles, is a natural emollient, exfoliator, and much more.
